Decides to extend until 9 July 2011 the mandate of the United Nations Mission in Sudan (UNMIS) as set out in resolution 1590 (2005);

Announces its intent to establish a mission to succeed UNMIS;

Requests the Secretary-General to continue to consult with the CPA parties in this regard and submit a report by 16 May;

Authorizes UNMIS to utilize its assets to prepare for the establishment of the above-mentioned successor mission;

Decides to remain actively seized of the matter.
