At its 8th plenary meeting, on 6 July 2009, the Economic and Social Council adopted the agenda of its substantive session of 20095 and approved the programme of work for the session6 and the list of documents for the session.7 At the same meeting, on the recommendation of the Committee on Non-Governmental Organizations,8 the Council approved the requests made by nongovernmental organizations to be heard by the Council at its substantive session of 2009 under agenda item 2.
