At its 38th plenary meeting, on 20 July 2007, the Economic and Social Council:

(a) Decided that the 2008 regular session of the Committee on Non-Governmental Organizations will be held from 21 to 30 January 2008 and the resumed session from 29 May to 6 June 2008;

(b) Approved the provisional agenda for the 2008 session of the Committee as set out below:

Election of officers.

Adoption of the agenda and other organizational matters.

Applications for consultative status and requests for reclassification received from nongovernmental organizations:

Applications for consultative status and requests for reclassification deferred from previous sessions of the Committee;

New applications for consultative status and new requests for reclassification;

Applications of non-governmental organizations in consultative status with the Economic and Social Council that have merged with non-governmental organizations without such consultative status.

Quadrennial reports submitted by non-governmental organizations in consultative status with the Economic and Social Council:

Deferred quadrennial reports submitted by non-governmental organizations in consultative status with the Council;

Review of quadrennial reports submitted by non-governmental organizations in consultative status with the Council.

Strengthening of the Non-Governmental Organizations Section of the Department of Economic and Social Affairs of the Secretariat.
