At its 5th plenary meeting, on 22 March 2006, the Economic and Social Council decided that the work of the operational activities segment of its substantive session of 2006 should be devoted to examining the operational activities of the United Nations system in order to evaluate the implementation of General Assembly resolution 59/250 of 22 December 2004, with a view to ensuring its full implementation, including through a comprehensive review of trends and perspectives in funding for development cooperation, and in this context decided to apply General Assembly decision 60/547 of 22 December 2005.
