Considers that the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia 1. (Serbia and Montenegro) cannot continue automatically the membership of the former Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia in the United Nations, and therefore recommends to the General Assembly that it decide that the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (Serbia and Montenegro) should apply for membership in the United Nations and that it shall not participate in the work of the General Assembly;

Decides to consider the matter again before the end of the main part of the forty-seventh session of the General Assembly.

Decision In a letter dated 9 December 1992,102 the President of the Security Council informed the President of the General Assembly as follows:

"I have the honour to inform you that in consultations in connection with Security Council resolution 777 (1992)

of 19 September 1992, the members of the Council agreed to keep the subject-matter of that resolution under continuous review and to consider it again at a later date."

At its 3118th meeting, on 6 October 1992, the Council invited the representative of Croatia to participate, without vote, in the discussion of the item entitled "Further report of the Secretary-General pursuant to Security Council resolutions 743 (1992) and 762 (1992) (S/24600)".63
