At its 39th plenary meeting, on 19 July 2010, the Economic and Social Council approved the recommendation of the Committee on Non-Governmental Organizations that the Council should withdraw agenda item 7 (Implementation of Economic and Social Council resolution 2006/46 and decision 2008/217) from the agenda of the 2011 session of the Committee, bearing in mind that the invitation to attend the twelfth and thirteenth sessions of the Commission on Science

172. and Technology for Development, which the Council had extended to non-governmental organizations without consultative status on the understanding that they would apply for such status, expires in 2010.
