“The General Assembly, recalling Economic and Social Council resolution 2006/9 of 25 July 2006, in which the Council had decided, inter alia, that the Commission on the Status of Women, at its fifty-third session, would discuss the possibility of conducting in 2010 a review of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action29 and the outcome of the twenty-third special session of the General Assembly entitled ‘Women 2000: gender equality, development and peace for the twenty-first century’,30 taking note of Commission resolution 53/131 in which the Commission decided to review, at its fifty-fourth session, the implementation of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action and the outcome of the twenty-third special session of the Assembly, emphasizing the sharing of experiences and good practices, with a view to overcoming remaining obstacles and new challenges,
