At its 42nd plenary meeting, on 24 July 2008, the Economic and Social Council decided to authorize a three-day international expert group meeting on the implementation of article 42 of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples62 and requested that the results of the meeting be reported to the Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues at its eighth session.
