At its 34th plenary meeting, on 18 July 2008, the Economic and Social Council took note of the report of the Secretary-General on progress made in the implementation of and follow-up to the outcomes of the World Summit on the Information Society at the regional and international levels,19 which related to the role of the United Nations system in implementing the Ministerial Declaration of the high-level segment of the substantive session of 2007 of the Council (agenda item 4) and economic and environmental questions: science and technology for development (agenda item 13 (b)).
