At its 45th plenary meeting, on 26 July 2007, the Economic and Social Council:

(a) Took note of the report of the Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice on its sixteenth session;40

(b) Decided that the prominent theme for the seventeenth session of the Commission would be “Aspects of violence against women that pertain directly to the Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice”;

(c) Approved the provisional agenda and documentation for the seventeenth session of the Commission as set out below on the understanding that the provisional agenda, in particular the topic for the thematic discussion, would be elaborated on during the intersessional period.
