At its 36th plenary meeting, on 24 July 2006, the Economic and Social Council took note of the annual overview report of the United Nations System Chief Executives Board for Coordination for 2005/2006.16

At its 41st plenary meeting, on 27 July 2006, on the proposal of the Vice-President, the Council took note of the following documents:

(a) Report of the Secretary-General on the follow-up to the Fourth World Conference on Women and progress made in the implementation of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action and the outcome of the twenty-third special session of the General Assembly;17

(b) Report of the Secretary-General on the United Nations system-wide policy and strategy on gender mainstreaming.18
