At its 40th plenary meeting, on 27 July 2005, the Economic and Social Council:

(a) Took note of the third annual report of the Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) Task Force;76

(b) Welcomed the valuable contribution of the Task Force to preparations for the Tunis phase of the World Summit on the Information Society and to mainstreaming information and communication technologies into development as a powerful tool that can help to achieve the internationally agreed development goals, including those contained in the United Nations Millennium Declaration.77
