At its 51st plenary meeting, on 23 July 2004, the

Economic and Social Council took note, during its

consideration at its high-level segment of the theme

“Resources mobilization and enabling environment for

poverty eradication in the context of the implementation of

the Programme of Action for the Least Developed Countries

for the Decade 2001–2010”, of the contribution of the

Commission on Science and Technology for Development

on that topic, which was addressed by the Commission at its

seventh session, in 2004, under the substantive theme

“Promoting the application of science and technology to

meet the development goals contained in the United Nations

Millennium Declaration”, and encouraged all stakeholders to

consider the recommendations thereon contained in the report of the Commission on its seventh session.87
