Economic and Social Council took note of resolution 48/5
of the Commission on the Status of Women on preparations for the forty-ninth session of the Commission 81 and
decided that the Commission, at its forty-ninth session,
should convene a high-level plenary meeting, open to the
participation of all States Members of the United Nations
and observers, on the implementation of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action82 and the outcome of the twenty-third special session of the General Assembly,83
and requested the Chairperson of the forty-ninth session of
the Commission to transmit its outcome, through the
Council, to the Assembly at its sixtieth session, including
to the high-level event of the Assembly on the review of the United Nations Millennium Declaration.43
