At its 49th plenary meeting, on 25 July 2003, the Economic and Social Council took note of draft decision II
adopted by the Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues87 and

the elements contained therein, and decided to consider indigenous issues as a theme for its high-level segment in 2006, in accordance with established procedures set out in General Assembly resolution 50/227 of 24 May 1996.
