At its 46th plenary meeting, on 23 July 2003, the Economic and Social Council took note of Commission on Human Rights decision 2003/112 of 25 April 2003,54 and endorsed the Commission’s decisions:

(a) To approve the appointment of Ms. Barbara Frey as Special Rapporteur with the task of preparing a comprehensive study on the prevention of human rights violations committed with small arms and light weapons, based on her working paper57 as well as the comments received and the discussion that took place at the fifty-fourth session of the Subcommission on the Promotion and Protection of Human Rights and at the fifty-eighth session of the Commission, and to request the Special Rapporteur to submit a preliminary report to the
