Commends the commitment of Vanuatu to graduate from the category of least developed countries on 4 December 2020, and in this regard welcomes the adoption by the Government of the Vanuatu smooth transition strategy;

Expresses its deep concern at the severe consequences for Vanuatu of both Cyclone Harold in early April 2020 and the closure of its borders due to the COVID-19 pandemic;

Invites bilateral, regional and multilateral development and trading partners to provide full support to the implementation of the Vanuatu smooth transition strategy, including by extending international support measures, in particular those related to trade, as appropriate, aid for trade and participation in international forums, until 4 December 2025;

Underlines the exceptional nature of this decision, taken in the context of the unique disruption caused to the economic and social progress of Vanuatu by Cyclone Harold and the COVID-19 pandemic.
