Having received the report1 of the Unified Command dated 7 August 1953,

Noting with profound satisfaction that fighting has now ceased in Korea on the basis of an honourable armistice,

Salutes the heroic soldiers of the Republic of Korea and uf all those countries which sent armed forces to its assistance;

Pa}•s tribute to all those who died in resisting aggression and thus in upholcling the cause oi freedom ancl peace;

Expresses its satisfaction that the first efforts pursuant to the call of the United !\ations to repel armed aggression by collective military measures have been su_ccessful, and expresses its firm conviction that this proof of the effectiveness of collective security under the United Nations Charter will contribute to t1w maintenance of international peace and security.
