Approves the recommendations for reclassification contained in the report of the Secretary-General; 1/

Endorses the recommendations of the Advisory Committee on Administrative and Budgetary Questions contained in paragraph 8 of its related report, 2/ and requests the Secretary-General to include in his report to be submitted to the General Assembly at its forty-ninth session on the procedures and norms for the creation, suppression, reclassification, conversion and redeployment of posts his views on how the current procedures could be changed to achieve the objectives outlined in the report of the Advisory Committee;

* At its 89th plenary meeting, on 14 February 1994, the General Assembly, on the proposal of its President, amended the title of agenda item 123 by deleting the word "proposed", in view of the fact that it had adopted the programme budget for the biennium 1994-1995 on 23 December 1993. The item now reads "Programme budget for the biennium 1994-1995".

Expresses concern that the promotion of some staff had been implemented prior to approval by the General Assembly of the reclassification of their posts, as indicated in paragraph 4 of the report of the Advisory Committee, and requests the Secretary-General to ensure that this situation does not recur.

Takes note of the recommendations of the Advisory Committee on Administrative and Budgetary Questions contained in its report; 3/

Authorizes the Secretary-General to enter into additional commitments up to 1,834,100 United States dollars under section 21 (Human rights) of the programme budget for the biennium 1994-1995 for the financing of human rights activities in Cambodia.
