Reaffirming the purposes and principies of the Charter of the United Nations.

Reca/ling its resolutions 32/ 197 of 20 December 1977 on the restructuring of the economic and social sectors of the United Nations system and 41/213 of 19 December 1986 on the review of the efficiency of the administrative and financia! functioning of the United Nations. both of which are elements of a common process,

Taking note of Economic and Social Council decisions 1987/112 of6 February 1987 on the in-depth study ofthe United Nations intergovernmental structure and functions 111 the economic and social fields and 1987 / 180 of 8 July 1987 on enhancing the co-ordination of the activities nf the organizations of the United Nations system,

Bearing in mind the tmportance of the full implementation of ali aspects of it.~ resolution 41 /213,

1 Stresses the common interest of ali countries in the etfective and efficient functioning of the United Nations in the economic and social fields which are of particular importance to the devcloping countries;

Affirms that its resolution 41/213 should continue to be implemented in the economic and social fields at the intergovernmental and Secretaria! levels in a timely. orderly. mtegrated and well co-ordinated manner in order to enhance the quality and strengthen t he implementation of devclopment-oriented programmes and activities of the L1 nited Nations in th, 1se ficlds;
