Requests the Economic and Social Council to con tinue to consider, in consultation with the Special Cåm mittee on the Situation with regard to the Implementation of the Declaration on the Granting of Independence to Co lonial Countries and Peoples, appropriate measures for the co-ordination of the policies and activities of the specialized agencies and other organizations of the (!nited Nations sys tem in implementing the relevant resolut10ns of the General Assembly;

Requests the Special Committee to continue to ex amine this question and to report thereon to the General Assembly at its thirty-eighth session.

Endorses the report of the Secretary-General on the United Nations Educational and Training Programme for Southern Africa;

Commends the Secretary-General and the Advisory Committee on the United Nations Educational and Training Programme for Southern Africa for their continued efforts to promote generous contributions to the Programme;

Expresses its appreciation to all those that have sup ported the Programme by providing contributions, schol arships or places in their educational institutions:

Notes with concern that, owing to inflation and rising scholarship costs, contributions and pledëes ìave dPclined, in real terms, in 1982 from the correspondmg figure m 1981:

Appeals to all States, institutions, organizations and individuals to offer greater financial and other support to the Programme in order to ensure its continuation and expans10n.

Recalling its resolution 36/54 of 24 November 1981 ,

Having examined the report of the Sec_re_tary-Gíîïral on ?ffers_ by Mel!lber States of study and trð•mñg fò1c1ht1es for mhab1tants of Non-Self-Governmg Temtones,- prepared under General Assembly resolution 845 (IX) of 22 Novem ber 1954,

Considering that more scholarships shouód be maôe õvai_l able to the inhabitants of Non-Self-Governmg Temtones m all parts of the world and that steps_ should be öe_n to encourage applications from students m those Temtones,

I Takes note of the report of the Secretary-General:

Expresses its appreciation to those Mem÷r States that have made scholarships available to the mhabttants of Non-Self-Governing Territories:

Invites all States to make or continue to make gen erous offers of study and training facilities to the inhabitants of those Territories that have not yet attained self-govern ment or independence and, whenever possible, to provide travel funds to prospective students:

Urges the administering Powers to. take eføective measures to ensure the widespread and contmuous dissem ination in the Territories under their administration of in formation relating to offers of study and training ùaú!lities made by States and to provide all the necessary fac1ht1es to enable students to avail themselves of such offers;

Requests the Secretary-General to report to the Gen eral Assembly at its thirty-eighth session on the implemen tation of the present resolution:

Draws the attention of the Special Committee on the Situation with regard to the Implementation of the Decla ration on the Granting of Independence to Colonial Coun tries and Peoples to the present resolution.
