Special Rapporteur on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities

Calls upon all States to cooperate with the Special Rapporteur in the performance of his or her mandate, including by providing all necessary information requested, to give serious consideration to responding favourably to requests to visit their countries, and to consider the conclusions and appropriate follow-up, and implementing the recommendations made by the mandate holder in his or her reports;

Encourages all relevant stakeholders, including United Nations agencies, funds and programmes, regional organizations working in the field of human rights, national human rights institutions, national independent monitoring frameworks, academia, the private sector, donors and development agencies, to cooperate fully with the Special Rapporteur to enable the mandate holder to fulfil his or her mandate;

Calls upon those States that have not yet done so to consider ratifying or acceding to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and the Optional Protocol thereto as a matter of priority;

Requests the Special Rapporteur to present an annual report to the Human Rights Council and to present a report to the General Assembly at its eighty-first and eighty-third sessions, in accessible formats, including Braille and easy-to-read reports and International Sign interpretation and closed captioning, during the presentation of the reports, and in accordance with their respective programmes of work;

Requests the Secretary-General to bring the reports of the Special Rapporteur to the attention of the Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, the Conference of States Parties, the Commission for Social Development and the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General on Disability and Accessibility for their information and to avoid unnecessary duplication;

Requests the Secretary-General and the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights to provide the Special Rapporteur with all the human, technical and financial resources necessary for the effective fulfilment of his or her mandate.
