At its 69th plenary meeting, on 7 May 2025, the General Assembly, on the proposal of Bolivia (Plurinational State of), Botswana, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Lesotho, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan,48 recalling its resolution 79/279 of 11 April 2025, by which it had decided to hold the Third United Nations Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries in Awaza, Turkmenistan, from 5 to 8 August 2025, and the decision of the Preparatory Committee for the Conference set out in paragraph 4 of annex II to its resolution 1,49 regarding statements at the opening of the Conference, decided that statements at the opening would be made by the President of the Conference, the Secretary-General of the United Nations, the President of the General Assembly, the President of the Economic and Social Council, the Chair of the Group of Landlocked Developing Countries, a representative of the host country of the Second United Nations Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries and the Secretary-General of the Conference.
