At its 2nd plenary meeting, on 20 September 2013, the General Assembly, on the recommendation of the General Committee as set forth in its first report,23 adopted a number of provisions concerning the organization of the sixty-eighth session.

At its 71st plenary meeting, on 20 December 2013, the General Assembly, on the proposal of its President, decided to further postpone the date of recess of the sixty-eighth session of the Assembly from Friday, 20 December 2013, to Monday, 23 December 2013.24 At the same meeting, the General Assembly, at the request of the Chair of the Fifth Committee, decided to
further extend the work of the Committee until Monday, 23 December 2013.24 At its 72nd plenary meeting, on 27 December 2013,24 the General Assembly, on the proposal of its President, decided, without setting a precedent, to invite Ms. Susana Malcorra, Under-Secretary-General and Chef de Cabinet, to make a statement at that meeting.
