At its 89th plenary meeting, on 19 December 2011, the General Assembly, on the recommendation of the Third Committee,84 took note of the note by the Secretary-General transmitting the report of the Special Rapporteur on violence against women, its causes and consequences85 submitted under the item entitled “Advancement of women”.
