At its 89th plenary meeting, on 19 December 2011, the General Assembly, on the recommendation of the Third Committee,81 took note of the reports of the Secretary-General entitled “Implementation of the outcome of the World Summit for Social Development and of the twenty-fourth special session of the General Assembly”82 and “World social situation 2011: the global social crisis”83 submitted under the item entitled “Social development”.
