At its 104th plenary meeting, on 9 September 2009, the General Assembly, on the proposal of the President of the General Assembly,34 guided by the Declaration of Commitment on HIV/AIDS35 and the Political Declaration on HIV/AIDS,36 and recalling its decision 55/488 of 7 September 2001, decided:
(a) To take note of the following:
(i) Report of the Secretary-General on progress made in the implementation of the Declaration of Commitment on HIV/AIDS and the Political Declaration on HIV/AIDS;37
(ii) The submission of the report of the Joint Inspection Unit on the review of the progress made by the United Nations system organizations in achieving Millennium Development Goal 6, Target 7, to combat HIV/AIDS,38 and the note by the Secretary-General containing

the comments of the Secretary-General and those of the United Nations System Chief Executives Board for Coordination on the report of the Joint Inspection Unit;39
(b) To include in the provisional agenda of its sixty-fourth session the item entitled “Implementation of the Declaration of Commitment on HIV/AIDS and the Political Declaration on HIV/AIDS”.
