At its 19th plenary meeting, on 20 September 2002, the General Assembly, on the recommendations of the General Committee as set forth in its first report,17 adopted the agenda18 and the allocation of agenda items19 for the fiftyseventh session.

At the same meeting, the General Assembly, on the recommendation of the General Committee as set forth in its first report,20 decided to defer consideration of the item entitled “Question of the Malagasy islands of Glorieuses, Juan de Nova, Europa and Bassas da India” and to include it in the provisional agenda of its fifty-eighth session.

At its 24th plenary meeting, on 7 October 2002, the General Assembly, on the recommendation of the General Committee as set forth in its second report,21 decided to include in the agenda of its fifty-seventh session an additional sub-item entitled “Cooperation between the United Nations and the Association of South-East Asian Nations” and to consider it directly in plenary meeting.

At its 31st plenary meeting, on 16 October 2002, the General Assembly, on the recommendation of the General Committee as set forth in its third report,22 decided to defer consideration of the item entitled “Question of the Comorian island of Mayotte” and to include it in the provisional agenda of its fifty-eighth session.

At the same meeting, the General Assembly, on the recommendation of the General Committee as set forth in its third report,22 decided to include in the agenda of its fiftyseventh session an additional item entitled “South American Zone of Peace and Cooperation” and to consider it directly in plenary meeting.

At its 68th plenary meeting, on 6 December 2002, the General Assembly, on the recommendation of the General Committee as set forth in its fourth report,23 decided to include in the agenda of its fifty-seventh session an additional item entitled “International Year of Rice, 2004” and to consider it directly in plenary meeting.
