The mandate of the Office of the Personal Envoy of the Secretary-General for the Sudan derives from Security Council resolution 2715 (2023), in which the Council, expressing alarm at the continued violence and humanitarian situation, in particular violations of international humanitarian law and grave human rights violations and abuses, welcomed the appointment of the Personal Envoy to use his good offices with the parties and the neighbouring States, complementing regional peace efforts, including those of the African Union and IGAD, and called on all parties to extend their cooperation in furtherance of his tasks. — 2715 (2023) | UN Mandate Registry
